How to Play Omaha

Four hole cards, bigger hands and more action on every street. If you love Hold 'Em, Omaha is the natural next step.

Overview

Omaha plays like Texas Hold 'Em with one big difference: you're dealt four hole cards and must use exactly two of them, plus exactly three of the five community cards, to make your best five-card hand.

Two from your hand, three from the board. Always.

Common mistake: four spades on the board plus one spade in your hand is not a flush in Omaha. You need two spades of your own.

Questions, Answered

How is Omaha different from Hold 'Em?
You get four hole cards instead of two, and you must use exactly two of them with exactly three board cards.
Are hand values bigger in Omaha?
Yes. With four hole cards, strong hands like straights, flushes and full houses come up much more often, so a hand that wins in Hold 'Em may not win here.
Where can I play Omaha in Eugene?
At High Mountain Poker, in our $2/$5 Big O / Hold 'Em mix. [Confirm any other Omaha games, such as the limit mix or mixed-game tournaments.] See what's playing on the Play page.
